The mibr players were able to overcome some of the world's best teams in a display of incredible talent and team-play that saw them win six consecutive matches against the likes of fnatic, emuLate and SK Gaming. Here's their road to the final:
vs Spirit of Amiga (Match Details)
After kicking off their tournament with an easy win over the Swedish team supernovas, Made in Brazil's next match was their only majorly close game of the weekend, against the Danish side Spirit of Amiga. The game was played on dust2, and after some valiant efforts from both sides, was brought to a 15:15 tie by the end of regular play. However the overtime rounds saw mibr take the lead with a score of 3:1, and thus giving the match a final score of 19:16.
vs roccat (Match Details)
Moving through to the upper bracket quarter-finals, Made in Brazil were to face the Finnish team roccat on inferno. Roccat are a skilled squad with some great players, yet they seemed no match for the Brazilian's here, who managed to win this match by a score of 16 to 6.
vs fnatic (Match Details)
With two opponents down, mibr would now face the recently named number one team in the world, fnatic. Played on train, this was bound to be an exciting match - and that it was. Although it wasn't as close as mibr's first game, the fnatic squad were able to take quite a few rounds away from the Brazilians, and give us a real show. However Made in Brazil came out on top, with a final score of 16:12.
vs emuLate (Match Details)
Having beaten fnatic, mibr would now advance to the upper bracket final against the French players of emuLate. Again, this was shaped up to be a pretty close game, with emuLate looking in the kind of form they were in back at the World Cyber Games - having just knocked both SK Gaming and NoA down to the lower bracket. But Made in Brazil were again able to hold back another opponent, winning this game by a score of 16 to 8 and thus advancing on to the grand final of the tournament.
vs SK Gaming (Match Details)
After watching SK Gaming beat emuLate in the consolation final, it was now time for Made in Brazil to get back in their seats ready for the grand final against the SK squad on nuke. This was bound to be a great match, but with SK requiring two wins to clench the title, the pressure was definitely on them to perform. Although both teams put up a very good fight, it was Made in Brazil who took the match in the end, with a final score line of 16:11.
And with that, the Brazilians were crowned champions of the DreamHack 2007 event, and were rewarded 110,000 SEK (around 11,790 euros).
