Back in December, the Electronic Sports League (ESL) announced that the organization will be hosting an EMS One CS:GO tournament, together with the Intel Extreme Masters on March 13-16th at Spodek Arena in Katowice, Poland. This will be the first major tournament for this year and the second one funded by Valve Corporation. The first one was the DreamHack Winter 2013 and similar to it, the prize pool is once again set to $250,000.
The top eight finishers from DreamHack Winter 2013 were directly invited, two spots were reserved for non-European teams and the remaining six were determined via large amount of online qualifiers. All the teams participating and the group draw are the following:
Unfortunately, SK Gaming will not attempt this tournament due to the fact that both the players and the management were unable to create a solid lineup in time in order to qualify.
An official stream for the tournament will be available with the following caster crew:
Sean Charles – Host
Jason Kaplan – Commentator
Stuart 'TosspoT' Saw – Commentator
Lauren 'Pansy' Scott – Commentator
Duncan 'Thorin' Shields – Analyst
Scott 'SirScoots' Smith – Analyst
Joshua 'steel' Nissan – Observer
Joe Miller and
Paul 'ReDeYe' Chaloner will be casting the Extreme Masters tournament and unfortunately will not be with us this time. Yet, ReDeYe had the time to share his opinion about the casters for this tournament and it's the following:
Along with the official stream, community streams in English and other languages, such as Russian and German, will be available to ensure that the viewers do not miss any action at all. The GOTVs will be open for public and supposedly will no longer cause problems with DoS/DDoS attacks. A new update was released few weeks ago, which added several commands that prevent the IP address of the game server to be shown to the GOTV spectator.
Also don't forget to link your Steam account with twitch.tv, if you haven't already. Valve has released special souvenir packages for this tournament, similar to those from DreamHack Winter 2013. Two new sticker capsules featuring stickers with all the teams participating in this tournament crafted on have been released too. Now you can apply a sticker of the team(s) you support on any weapon in your inventory.
Furthermore, the schedule for the tournament is the following:

"I'm thrilled that we have secured such an amazing lineup of talent and I am confident that collectively the team will bring an amazing weekend of CS:GO action to the viewers at home and at the venue in the best way they can.
We've got a real mix of youth and experience with SirScoots and Thorin performing similar roles to those at DreamHack alongside our host Sean Charles, who returns after a successful stint hosting the EMS One in 2013.
We also have one of the most experienced commentators in the business - Stuart Saw - returning to an ESL event to complement our regular EMS One pairing of Lauren and Jason. I'm also thrilled that we have secured the services of Joshua "steel" Nissan to observe the entire tournament. The role he performs should not be underestimated - he never misses a frag!
The stickers are in place, the drops are about to happen and the games are almost here. This is going to be an amazing tournament presented by an amazing team of people - GL HF!"
