Just few days ago you managed to win CODQCUP January tournament over Tek9 in two maps, how are you feeling?
The feeling is awesome, it's surely something we will remember! Being the champion of the first major European cup and "making our mark on the early Call of Duty4 history", like it's written on GotFrag, is a very unique feeling. Especially if we think about all the top teams attended the CODQCUP we managed to leave behind. The victory in this event will strengthen our team very much.
But as I said, we won't make the mistake and rest now, we will go on working hard and don't take this win as a usual thing. It's something you need to work for.
The map Tek9 had picked (mp_crossfire) seemed to cause problems to you as you only got 4 rounds on it, what happened?
First of all I have to say Tek9 performed really strong on this map, no matter which excuses I bring in because of that now. Besides all the other arguments crossfire is just the map which fits perfectly into Tek9's playbook. If you make your homework, like Tek9 did and learn your blocknades you have already won 50% of this map, unfortunatly we didn't make our homework. Tek9 is a very intelligent team which plays rather slowly and "picks" some players ingame. In contrast to that we are a totally agressive team which is more effective on small maps with a multitude of risks and possibilities we are up to handle. But to be honest we didn't practise this map in the last weeks.
Compared to alot of other teams which have been already training since release of the game, we started to practise on a professional niveau on January the 10th due to some problems we have solved now and Burak "mokai" Bolat's three week trip to Turkey is behind us. In addition to that we only prepared for backlot, vacant and crash because we knew those are the maps we will face fnatic, dignitas and tek9. Also we had the assurance that we were only in need to win one map against our rivals due to the fact that they came from the Lower bracket. Furthermore Tek9 thought we would play backlot, where we were able to take down fnatic in a sensational match some days before.
That's why we have put all our eggs in one basket and decided to play crash again vs them since we knew how they act on this map. Alltogether, I am pretty sure they also had to handle their own problems, so lets say they have been just better on that map than us.
For how long and how much did you practise for your own map choice, mp_crash?
We just played it from day to day, became better and better on our positions and learned about the little secrets the map contains.
What kind of goals did you set yourself for the tournament and did you believe you could win it?
Hehe, that's a good question. I knew that our team has huge potential, but to believe in reaching the first rank in a cup where all top teams across Europe are going to attend without taking part in any further competition was very risky, because the CODQCUP was the very first really important one in the new game. In Call of Duty 2 we had been one of the European top teams after working hard for the position and taking the way from being an underdog to what we are now. But to be a good team or gamer in Call of Duty 2 doesn't guarantee that you will do good in CoD 4.
We set goals and we are working hard to reach them. But with years of experience we have behind us, I would claim that it's better to take one step ahead another and set new goals if its time to do so. In consideration of that our goal was just to be part of the cup. We just wanted to attend it and see how we will be in it. After some practise wars and the groupstage matches in the cup, there was no doubt that all the passion we invested into our team would pay off.
As CODQCUP is one of the biggest of its kind in Europe, how do you feel the admins have been managing it so far?
The admins of the CODQCCUP did their job very well when they hosted the CODQCUP back in CoD2, they worked hard for the January edition of the CODQCUP in CoD4 and they will amaze the community in the future aswell! Imo the community should thank the admin crew and anyone who is involved in this cup because of their work and what they have created brought CoD to another competitive level. I hope the international community will go on doing so. At this point I want give shoutouts to Patrik 'deffan' Averin, Patrik 'apelsin' Jansson, Daniel 'Piitz' Castañeda, Dennis 'donk' Kvist, Rasmus 'zar' Friberg, Johnny 'toker' Törnvall, QuadV Deman & Joe and TGBF Shetter & Swede, keep it up.
Your lineup have been playing together for almost two years, what is your secret?
We are friends, we have set our goals together, we work for what we want and we know how to have fun. That's the secret! When we founded the team we weren't some random guys who created a new team because they rock together... Everyone of us have playing the Call of Duty series since the first part of it was released. Over the whole time we have been part of the community, we met loads of people, some of them you like and some you dislike.
So on our way through the CoD Series we met each other and it didn't take long till we recognised that there's some kind of "magical band" between us if we are ingame. Actually three of us are real life friends living in the same city, this aspect also formed the core of the team. I would say our team has a soul, even if this sounds like we are freaks, haha. But is that so unbelievable in times the esport is made of partnerships of convenience?
Now that you have played the Modern Warfare for around four months, how has it fullfilled your expectations that you had at the end of Call of Duty 2?
So I expect CoD4 is one of the upcoming games out there and to be honest, do you know any game which has grown that consistent as Call of Duty beside Counter-Strike 1.6 & Warcraft 3? Some already have recognised that it's time to bridge the gap in the market and have an eye on CoD.
What kind of plans have you got for the upcoming months?
It's hard to talk about our plans as we have no clan or organisation which offers us the possibilities to attend all the lans or just gives us minimal support. If we could we would attend every lan event which will be held in the future and show what we are able to do. But as long as we are without that support, we won't give up. We will work hard, save as much money as we can and attend the lans we can plan in with what we have. In order to that we take every chance to perform as good as possible in every important online tournament. So if I tell you our plans in a short sentence I would say, we want to be the best and we will make the most of our actual situation.

"If you think we made bunches of geeknades or masterplans for this map, you are wrong."
Oh well, like I said above we prepared well for it. But you can't call it "real training", what we did for this map. Our team prefers playing freestyle with a very good communication and good teamplay. If you think we made bunches of geeknades or masterplans for this map, you are wrong. We just played it from day to day, became better and better on our positions and learned about the little secrets the map contains.

"I believe we aren't even prepared for what the future holds ready for us."
Call of Duty 4 overcame our expectations. Cod4 has been in stores four months now and it already tops the amount of users any CoD series game had by far. Also the competitive scene in CoD is growing so fast, I believe we aren't even prepared for what the future holds ready for us. The CoD community is a very special one. It's the only gaming community which envolves really well by itself. We are carring ourselves with self hosted tourneys and projects what is something that permanently growed if you follow the history of our game. So I expect CoD4 is one of the upcoming games out there and to be honest, do you know any game which has grown that consistent as Call of Duty beside Counter-Strike 1.6 & Warcraft 3?
