Our Brazilian CS:GO squad managed to reach the quarter-finals of the ninth official major tournament currently live in Cologne, Germany, after taking down
Robert 'RobbaN' Dahlström's FaZe Clan in the upper bracket final of Group D.
SK Gaming started on the defensive side and won the pistol round. Despite that FaZe managed to plant the bomb during and received the extra $800 per player to allow them to make a decent buy one round later,
Fernando 'fer' Alvarenga and
Gabriel 'FalleN' Toledo secured the first weapon round as well as the following two rounds, leaving FaZe's economy broken nearly all the time. The seventh round went into FaZe's hands, but SK Gaming quickly turned over the scores back in favor and claimed five rounds in a row, winning the first half 12-3.
FaZe Clan won the followed chaotic pistol round of the second half in a two-on-two situation, but the Brazilians came back instantaneously with crucial victory in a latter economic round restoring their dominating streak once more. Unable to deny SK's aggressive style as Ts, FaZe dropped the last round of the match to FalleN and company, losing the group's upper bracket final 6-16 against the Brazilian powerhouse.
It is still unknown who we will face in the quarter-finals, but as always you can keep yourself up to date by checking our esport index regularly.
Furthermore since our division managed to reach the playoffs and retain the "Legends" status, we will participate in the next major as well regardless of the final outcome.
More information will be released soon. Stay tuned to SK Gaming.
