After their disappointing outings at Intel Extreme Masters Oakland 2017 and failing to qualify for the LAN finals of ESL Pro League Season 6 and ECS Season 4, the French of G2 Esports want to prove that they are not in a slump and still possess the firepower to win big tournaments. The hometown heroes of North will try to give the home crowd something to cheer for. Their fellow countrymen of Astralis Denmark will try to do the same but carry the burden of a huge handicap on their shoulders. As we have mentioned in our viewer’s guide, they will be using Dennis 'dennis' Edman as a stand-in for the ailing Nicolai 'device' Reedtz.
After winning IEM Oakland for the second year in a row, the legendary Ninjas in Pyjamas franchise wants to show everyone that their recently won trophy was no one hit wonder, while their opposing side of last week’s grand-final, FaZe finally wants to close out a tournament in a grand-final. Last but definitely not least, our very own squad of SK Gaming is going to give all they got for yet another title opportunity at the end of a very successful year.

The event will feature a special format that guarantees excitement. You will not experience a dull moment, as the six rosters are put in one large group and will simultaneously compete against each other in three best of one matchups at a time. In the end, the top two teams will compete in a best of three grand-final. The possibility of a sudden death shootout in this format is most intriguing about it. If two squads have an even record, the exact win/loss ratio between themselves and the same round difference, 1v1 aim duels between their players would be the deciding factor. A scenario like this is highly unlikely but would definitely be a sight to watch.
Down below you can find all the pairings of the action packed schedule of the event.
