We are in the midst of the peaceful Christmas holiday season but the snowy winter wonderland of Odense, Denmark is about to heat up as twelve top teams will battle it out for the title of the ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals inside of the Sparekassen Fyn Arena.
Despite the time of the year, the atmosphere will be far from harmonic as the hometown fans will scream their minds to the heavens for their local teams of
North and
Astralis Denmark who will have to play with stand-in
Ruben 'RUBINO' Villarroel for
Nicolai 'device' Reedtz who is still recovering from an ailment. However, instead of giving out any gifts, the other rosters will try to move up the handing out of presents for themselves by gaining a win in the Intel Grand Slam column and cashing in on the larger amount of the 750,000 Dollar prize pool to expand their Christmas shopping budget.
The squads of
FaZe ,
Ninjas in Pyjamas and of course our very own players of
SK Gaming should all be considered as favourites, while
Fnatic will try to tie on to their former glory days of the first two ESL Pro League Seasons, which they both won. Just as
OpTic Gaming did in the North American online qualification, the Swedes finished in the first seed of the European qualification column and have ideal preconditions. The rosters of
Team Liquid ,
Misfits ,
NRG Esports ,
HellRaisers and our fellow countrymen of
Luminosity Gaming round out the competition but should be viewed as underdogs.
The twelve competitors are divided into two different groups. Two streams will make sure you do not miss a second of the event, as four squads will take each other on in at least two simultaneous battles at all times. The face-offs of Group Yellow are scheduled for noon to afternoon, while the action of our group, Group Red, will take place in the evening.
We will frequently update this article with all the latest results. Make sure to support our players at the venue or via social media as they try to close out the year with a bang.
