The kickoff of the second Virtual Bundesliga Club Championship season is next Monday and we have made some major changes to our approach of the competition.
Just like last year, our players will enter the Virtual Bundesliga as participants of our partner 1. FC Koeln and will try to improve last season's record, where they finished in the ninth spot and got eliminated during the playoffs.
In total, twenty-two teams of 1. Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga clubs will fight to get in the Finals or Playoffs. In order to qualify directly for the Finals, you have to finish in the top six of the board. Seat seven to sixteen are eligible for the Playoffs and have the chance to make their way to the Finals from there.
Teams will once again play in the mode where each player of the Bundesliga clubs has a standardized rating of 85. This ensures equal opportunities for all competitors.
Since you can only nominate two players for the Finals or Playoffs, we have decided to play the Club Championship with just two men.
Tim 'TheStrxngeR' Katnawatos will perform on the PlayStation 4 and
Michael 'Phenomeno' Gherman will take care of the games on the XBox. In the meantime,
Mirza 'Mirza' Jahic and
Timo 'Praii' Gruneisen are going to skip the Club Championship to be a part of the Open Qualifier and enter the Playoffs via this way. With this strategy, we will hopefully have four players in the participating field of the final stages of the competition.
Although we have divided our roster in order to take the field in both formats and maximize our chances in the Playoffs and hopefully in the Finals, the team is not divided off the field. The guys have practiced with each other throughout the whole season, are currently bootcamping together ahead of the first match in the Club Championship and will continue to support each other on their journeys in the Club Championship and in the Open Qualifier.
You can find the scoreboard and a list of all the matchdays here.
Our two new players,
Tim 'TheStrxngeR' Katnawatos and
Michael 'Phenomeno' Gherman have stated the participation in the Club Championships as reasons for their trade. Michael has played a very good season for Borussia Moenchengladbach last year and looks to improve on his results. “Last season was a success for myself, but I want to improve as a player and aim for even higher goals.” Tim on the other hand could not compete in the FIFA 19 Club Championship, since he was contracted to the Swiss club FC Basel. “I have always wanted to play the Club Championship for a Bundesliga club. 1. FC Koeln and SK offer me the perfect opportunity to do so and I hope to have a great season together with Pheno.”
As you can see, the players are ready to get started so make sure to check out our YouTube stream of the kickoff of the Virtual Bundesliga on Monday at18:00 CET against VfB Stuttgart and SV Darmstadt 98.
