On Wednesday, 24th June, after almost half a year, we will finally see a FIFA esports tournament again. It will also be the last event of a season that got cut short due to Covid-19.
The good news is that this event will be for the German championship and that our player
Michael 'Phenomeno' Gherman will compete in it for our partner 1. FC Koeln. For a long time, it was not clear if the Virtual Bundesliga could be finished but thanks to carrying out the event online instead of offline we can close out the competition's 2020 season.
Out of several thousand players, only 24 competitors remain and will fight for the lion's share of the €50,000 prize money the VBL Grand Final has to offer. In the VBL Playoffs, Phenomeno swept through the competition and could be considered one of the favorites in the Grand Final.
The participating field is split in half. Twelve players will perform on the PS4 and the remaining twelve will play on the XBox One. There will be four groups consisting of six players each.
The group stage will kick off on Wednesday, 24th June at 18:00 CEST. The knockout stage will start one day later again at 18:00 CEST and the Finals will take place on Sunday, 28th June. All matches will be played in a bo2 format. Down below you can find the full schedule.
