Despite a 3-1 scoreline in the match, MeetYourMakers gave a good showing of themselves in their first round match in the NGL finals. But it was a superb showing from Shenghui 'Future' Li that put the Chinese team through to the winner bracket final.
World Elite got off to a good start, with Zhuo 'TeD' Zeng winning a close spawn game on Turtle Rock against MYM's Sung Sik 'ReMinD' Kim. No game against Remind is ever easy, and Ted had to struggle for his win despite a favourable matchup and spawn. Spurning the opportunity for an early ghoul push, the undead player went for his typical fiend build. Despite Remind managing to tech to master bears, it wasn't enough to keep him in the game and the nightelf called "GG" when he lost his Warden.
Ted went for a slightly more unusual strategy against in the second game. But his mass gargoyles and counter expansion on Meltinv Valley weren't strong enough. Demuslim's towers kept the gargoyles at bay long enough for him to make the army he required and the Brit claimed his second victory over Ted in the past couple of weeks.
The human player was unable to capitalise on his solid performance, however. In game three he faced Future and was unable to put the game to bed. The orc fought off several tower rushes and never looked in danger of losing, despite some close calls for his Blademaster. The deciding game was an orc mirror against Pedro 'LucifroN' Moreno Durán but Future had the advantage almost the entire game. He crept faster, harassed better, and gave the Spaniard almost no chance to gain an edge. The game was over when Future made his first full push after killing a number of Lucifron's peons. The ESWC Cheonan winner had no chance against the superior hero levels and items of Future.
Earlier in the day another orc took back-to-back wins to put his side through to the next round. Weiliang 'Fly' Lu continued his red hot streak, beating Pavel 'Revolver' Belov and Jin Wook 'Rohjinwook' Roh with relative ease. The game against Michael was very reminiscent of his recent victory over Xiaofeng 'Sky' Li except the Chinese orc had a much better start and didn't allow the match to reach late game.
Mousesports will face World Elite in the upper bracket final tomorrow afternoon at 13:00. The two losing teams will meet at 17:00. You can follow the SK's coverage of the event by clicking here.
