Just moments ago, the final of the A*US Summer 2010 Counter-Strike tournament concluded, seeing Lions swe defeat k23 with a scoreline of 2-0, earning themselves $10,000 in the process.
Lions swe 16-06 k23
(dust2 - 9:6, 7:0)
The first map saw the new Swedish Lions side on the defend, where they quickly took the pistol round and following four rounds. The game turned round at that point as k23 broke the Swedish defences and put a point of the board. They then managed to string three more rounds together, thanks to Dauren 'AdreN' Kystaubayev who at that stage was leading the scoreboard with 22-5. Rounds went either way from then on, but at the half the Lions managed to open up a small 9-6 lead. In the second half, the Lions took their second pistol round of the match, then strung another six rounds together to win the game 16-6.
Lions swe 19-15 k23
(train - 8:7, 7:8, 3:0, 1:0)
For the second time of the match, the Lions started as Counter-Terrorists on the map of de_train. They managed to once again take the pistol round and following four rounds. At that point, the Kazakhstan's found a way through the defences and managed to put three rounds on the board. Rounds went either way at that point again, eventually resulting in an 8-7 lead to the Lions.
On the change over, for the fourth time the Lions took the pistol, followed by two more rounds. Only round four would see k23 win after retaking the inner bomb site, thanks to some crucial AWPing. They then used the biased CT side to their advantage, putting five more rounds on the board. On round ten, the former fnatic player Björn 'threat' Pers stepped up by making three kills to claw a round back in the Lions direction. The remaining four rounds were shared between the teams, resulting in the game going into overtime.
In overtime, the Lions quickly got to work, taking all three rounds with impressive team work. The first round of the second half was very tense, both teams exchanged kills, but cautious play from the Lions allowed them to take the final round to win the game 19-15.
