Last night was the first qualifier for the ESL Major Series. SK Gaming have qualified automatically after winning last season’s tournament.
Fnatic were participating and were looking strong as they won their first match and then won their Semi Final. However after they won their Semi Final they were disqualified by the ESL.
The ESL comment was:
As this was the EU qualifier which Fnatic were playing in, they were disqualified for using 3 German players. They were using 3 German players as they were missing usual player
Enrique Javier 'xPeke' Cedeño Martinez. If xPeke had been playing then they would have been classed as an EU team.
While ESL were right to enforce the rule, i'd have to beg the question why they wasted the time to only enforce it after 2 matches? Especially as the team was confirmed at sign-up.

The ESL comment was:
"Germany has an own qualifier.
fnatic MSI played with 3 players from Germany, which is counted as German line-up.
fnatic MSI is disqualified."

"After winning the semi-final, we were then disqualified from the game before for using 3 German players as Peke couldn't make it. So we used FnaticMSI Fingers as our 5th and admin decided to disqualify us after the game, while we were in the following game. Very disappointing to see such actions from ESL and we hope to come to a solution ASAP, since our time was severely wasted."
