The Semi-Finals started brightly for SK Gaming with a convincing victory against the IEM Global Challenge Cologne winners
Counter Logic Gaming .
SK managed to completely shut down CLG with a performance of the highest calibre. CLG however were not to be put off.
In the second game CLG switched the momentum over and with a combination of better picks and superior play managed to give SK a taste of defeat straight back.
CLG started the second game with some unconventional play. CLG first switched their lanes round giving both lanes a 2 vs 1 situation. In addition their support was often roaming to harass
Stephen 'Snoopeh' Ellis.
The superior picks also had a hand in helping CLG pick up the win, with their mixture of tanky champions and CC effectively shutting down
Carlos 'ocelote' Rodríguez Santiago on his beloved Akali.
The third and final game was a closer affair than the previous two but it was to be the North Americans who would come out on top once more. Again the consensus from the streams was that the picks for CLG were superior.
CLG went with a strong AOE setup which SK tried to counter pick but sadly it wasn't enough. We saw an AP Janna in mid for SK who was laning vs Sivir (A very smart counter-pick by CLG) but Janna just didn't have enough damage to be truly effective.
In bottom lane we saw SK run with a Kog'Maw and Sona lane and it was Kog'Maw who SK were trying to rely on for damage output.
CLG knew this however and ensured that Kog'Maw was priority #1. In the end great play once again by CLG saw them take the tie 2-1 and progress to their second IEM Global Challenge final where they will face
World Elite
SK Gaming will go against
EHOME to decided 3rd place.
