Throwing a quick eye on this group, SK Gaming and MeetYourMakers pop right up. Both teams have a long history in Dota and are obvious favorites. Problem??? And Wild Honey Badgers are certainly teams capable of causing some uproar.

The Danes formerly known as Quantic Gaming have recently put their focus solely on Dota2 and are becoming a stronger contender with each day. While the team did not compete in The International, they did shine at ESWC 2011 dominating the first group stage versus teams such as EHOME , Moscow Five and Virus Gaming (the latter now known as Team Shakira ). In the end Natus Vincere proved to be the better team in the semi-finals. Their first match in The Defense versus Roots went like a breeze although the team remains to be tested this very tournament.

MeetYourMakers has probably the longest history in Dota, with Jacob 'Maelk' Toft-Anderssen being longtime commander of this team and having tons of legendary players such as Jonathan 'Loda' Berg, and current SK Gaming players Martin 'AngeL' Olsen and Mikkel 'miGGel' Berg back in 2008. On September 11th 2011, MeetYourMakers broke with history and parted way with Jacob 'Maelk' Toft-Anderssen and his team and replaced them with Scythe Gaming . Scythe Gaming did participate in The International, bringing home the 3rd place that came with $150,000. This team is one of the favorites to win it all.

It's safe to say this team needs no further introduction, this is in fact most of the old MYM team talked about earlier. The performance of this team will depend on how much effort they'll be actually putting into this event but even if they just rely on their previously gathered synergy through history, they'll remain a dangerous contestant. Jonathan 'Loda' Berg and Joakim 'Akke' Akterhall might help Problem??? out as fifth and sixth player, but only if their games don't interfere with their HoN adventure at Online Kingdom .

This team won't cause as much uproar as the aforementioned team, but with longtime known community member Troels 'syndereN' Nielsen, this team certainly has potential to make something great happen.

You could argue that Group A consist of a lot of tension and even call it Group of Death. Rivalry; Maelk vs Hyhy, Friendship; syndereN(WHB) vs SK Gaming, Reputation; Return of FM - all teams in this group got a score to settle. Normally I'd put SK Gaming, Problem?? and MYM as the three favorites of the group. However seeing as MYM might have a slight delay, I predict both danish teams to advance from the first group stage. The underdog of this group is WHB - with syndereN as captain and ex-DIPS players you can only expect unusual strategies. I'm afraid that FM will under perform. Lack of discipline and internet issues doesn't help when you are already in a hard group. I don't know much about GDT. Games to watch is: MYM vs Problem??, SK Gaming vs Problem?? and WHB vs SK Gaming.
