After an amazing tournament with lots of great play it comes to show how the European teams keep evolving and improving their game. The final game in the Kings of Europe tournament was between
Counter Logic Gaming EU and
Moscow Five with CLG.eu coming out on top after a 2-1 victory in a bo3 final.
M5 started their first game with a bit of a weird pick as they sent
Daniel 'Diamondprox' Reshetnikov into the jungle on Mundo which turned out to be a fast jungler. Though CLG.eu was prepared for the counterjungling tactics of M5 and managed to catch Mundo picking up the first blood in their own jungle. Good play by CLG.eu jungler
Stephen 'Snoopeh' Ellis who performed well throughout the tournament but notably the last 3 games he always had the early oracle to spot the M5 wards making it very hard for them to counterjungle.
First game went to CLG.eu after they completely destroyed the counterjungling tactics from M5 making them lose again and again in the jungle fights. Game 2 seemed to be going the same direction and we see Twisted Fate and Urgot take the stage on M5 side with Ahri being an unconventional pick on the CLG.eu side. Turned out to be a good pick as Ahri dominated Twisted Fate but in the end it was the tanky build on Urgot and the power from
Eugene 'Darien' Mazaev's Shyvana making it very hard for CLG.eu to develop their advantage into a win, 2nd game went to M5 and the third game promised to be spectacular.
It all came down to this game and we see some familiar play early on as Gangplank was going for the M5 blue buff and Lee Sin going for their red buff, slight miscalculation by Gangplank and Kennen there as Kennen ends up with the blue buff which was intended for Gangplank.
Picks and bans were as followed in this last game:
CLG.eu manage to get the kill advantage, get the dragon advantage and keep piling it up but as we saw in game 2 M5 was able to overcome the problem of being behind and they put on a great fight throughout the games. It was only after 45 minutes that CLG.eu could take the game after a 4-0 kill trade after which they rushed straight down the mid getting the tier 2 and 3 tower, destroying the inhibitor and pushing down the nexus all in one blow.
CLG.eu takes home the 1500 euro's cash prize, M5 taking 700 euro's and
Mistral eSports take 300 euro's. MTL team was then still under mtl management, they recently transferred to Absolute Legends.
